Whole House Water Filter
What is the best whole house water filtration system?
The best whole house water filtration system should be the one that meets your needs. You can get your third-party water report by visiting any drinking water databases like EWG or simply do your DIY water test using a test strip or water test kit. If you are using well water, you can simply search online to find a suitable laboratory near you. Most university systems in your area will do your water test at a reasonable price. Please send the report back to us at @ispringfilter.com or give us a call at 678-261-7611 (M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 EST). We are happy to help you find the right solution for your family.
Are whole house water filtration systems worth it?
In short, yes.
You cannot be 100% sure that the water coming out of your faucets is clean and free of impurities. There have been a lot of issues regarding the purity of tap water throughout the years. Although some of those issues have been resolved by city water regulations (well water is usually NOT regulated), many Americans are still bothered with unpleasant odor & tastes, potential heavy metal or chemical leakages, cloudiness, sediment, and so on. The only way you can be sure of your water quality is to take matters into your own hands and protect your family with a whole house water filtration system.
Whole house water filters are installed at the point of entry. They purify the water for your entire household usages, including shower, dishwasher, laundry, and other household appliances.
Some benefits of having a whole house water filtration system are:
- Installation of a whole house water filtration system purifies the water flowing from every tap, ensuring that it is clean, healthy, and odor-free.
- Chlorine, magnesium, iron, and dirt sediments leave a terrible smell and taste. A good filtration system eliminates these impurities from water, making your water completely odorless, light, and drinkable.
- Filtered water keeps your dishes contaminant-free, removing all the impurities that untreated water leaves behind on your utensils.
- Untreated water makes your skin dry, resulting in possible hair loss, and can leave stains on your bathroom appliances such as bathtubs and toilets. Filtered water will keep your skin and hair healthy and your home equipment clean.
- Using impure water to wash your clothes may result in unnecessary wear and tear. On the other hand, using filtered water in your laundry will increase your clothes' lifespan and keep the fabric soft and new for an extended time.
- When you use filtered water to clean your house, you reduce the number of acidic ions in your home's air. This will keep you and the overall atmosphere of your home healthier.
- The home appliances that use water for cleaning or washing often become rusty and stained due to the chemicals in the unfiltered water. Purified water keeps your appliances clean and durable for a more extended time.
- Your house plants also need pure water, and a purification system will keep your plants healthy and growing.
- Filtered water also keeps your swimming pool cleaner than unfiltered water will.
How much does it cost to install a whole house water filtration system?
It varies based on your living area and the complexity of the system.
Most of iSpring Whole House Water Filtration Systems are DIY friendly with basic plumbing knowledge.
We also have helpful user manuals and Youtube videos to break down the installations step by step.
Our tech support team is also available in case you need any guidance for installation.

Where should a whole house water filter be installed?
A whole house water filter should be installed at the point of entry before your water heater.
What is the best whole house reverse osmosis system?
It is usually overkilled to use a RO system for the whole house, and the flow rate from a RO would be significantly lower than your normal one for the shower, laundry, dishwashing, etc. As a result, we recommend using the RO for drinking water only and treat your whole house water with a whole house system to get a similar result but a better experience and less hassle.

Are sediment filters worth it?
Having a spin-down filter comes very handy, especially if you are trying to clean up water from a well.
It is more valuable than the typical filter cartridge that gets clogged and full in little time.
Regular sediment filters have cartridges that vary from 5 to 20 microns.
However, spin-down filters have larger micron capacities from 50 to 1000 microns,
ranging for every unit. Here are some other pros of having a spin down filter:
For more information about sediment filters, please check out our blog article.
- Have larger microns that can filter out large particles such as sand, grit, and other sediments.
- Protect your water softener, household appliances, and plumbing systems from sediment damage.
- Easy to maintain - some models have an auto flush feature.
- Reusable & durable.
- Takes a lot of workload from the succeeding filters and serves as a great first step in a filtration system.
- Easy installation, no welding or glue needed.
- Works well with copper, PEX, PVC, and CPVC pipes.
What is the best sediment water filter? Which sediment filter do I need?
If you are on city or municipal water sources,
then iSpring FP series sediment filter cartridges should be sufficient for your needs.
If you are on well or natural water sources,
please consider the iSpring WSP series spin down sediment filter.

How long do under sink water filters last?
Most under sink water filters need cartridge replacements every 6-12 months depending on your water quality and water usage. Reverse osmosis membranes usually last for 2-3 years.
Is reverse osmosis water better for you?
Yes.
Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most commonly used and thorough ways to purify drinking water.
Most purified water sold in the market is filtered with this technology.
According to the CDC, "Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing protozoa (for example, Cryptosporidium, Giardia),
bacteria (for example, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli),
and viruses (for example, Enteric, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Rotavirus." It will also "remove common chemical contaminants (metal ions, aqueous salts),
including sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, and lead."
Because the critical membrane filter of a RO system removes harmful pollutants and a few helpful minerals,
a standard 5 stage RO system will produce slightly acidic water with a pH of 7.0 or below.
Some RO systems like iSpring RCC7AK remedy this by offering an extra alkaline remineralization filter that restores healthy minerals and provides a balanced pH.
This will give your water a more natural taste than the regular 5 stage RO water filters will.

Do I need a booster pump for my RO system?
If your incoming water pressure is below 45 psi, then yes. With low water pressure, the system is not as efficient, and more water will drain. The RO membrane is very tight, and higher pressure is required.
How long do RO tanks last?
iSpring RO tanks last up to 10 years.

Saltless Water Descaler & Water Softener
Do electronic water Descalers really work?
The following timetable can be observed for performance evaluation of iSpring ED2000 electronic water descaler for the first 90 days.
Day 1:
On day 1, you can observe that the soap lathers more quickly and more effectively as the ED2000 action instantly begins to slacken the prevailing scale in the cold and hot water systems.
After 1 week:
Breaking down scale on water pipes, water heater elements (immersion rod heaters), and tanks, you may observe some tiny particles in the water coming from the hot water tap, although most of the broken down particles will be microscopic and can’t be observed by the naked eye.
After 2 weeks:
Loosening of scale on showerheads, faucets, kettles can be observed. Wiping plastic, ceramic, metal, and glass surfaces becomes much more easier. Soap and detergent required for bathing, cleaning, and laundering are significantly reduced.
After 1 month:
With the loosening of scale from the water heating system, it should take less time to heat the water. The amount of scale on pipes, faucets and showerheads should be significantly reduced.
After 3 months:
Disappearance of scale from the showerhead. The scaly crust in toilets is significantly reduced. No new crust should form. Depending upon the age of scaling and hardness of water, it may take up to 12 weeks for these effects to appear.
Please note:
1) The ED2000 is NOT a water softener and does not REMOVE calcium or magnesium from the water.
2) High Iron level (insoluble and soluble) in water can deteriorate and degrade ED2000’s electrical field operation, decreasing its efficiency on reducing scale. Under such circumstances, it’s recommended to use an iron removal system to remove the iron before using ED2000. If iron levels are above 0.3 ppm (parts per million), an iron removal system should always be used.
What is the difference between a water softener and a descaler?
The major difference between a water softener and a descaler is that a softener removes calcium and magnesium from water while a descaler doesn't. Water softeners use ion-exchange resin to soft water; thus, if you have a water softener at home, we recommend installing a reverse osmosis system for drinking water to remove excess sodium in water. In comparison, water descalers won't add extra ions into the water.
Are sink water filters worth it?
Yes.
Chlorine is a commonly used disinfectant in the treatment of domestic tap water due to chlorine’s competitive market price.
Chlorine does an excellent job of disinfecting bacteria, microorganisms, organic matter, inorganic substances, and other harmful chemicals;
however, not all of the chlorine used in the process is adequately filtered out. Some chlorine remains in the treated water that comes out
of your home’s taps.
Do you know how harmful can de residual chlorine in tap water be?

What is the best electronic water descaler?
iSpring ED2000 whole house electronic water descaler. It uses a patented computer chip to emit an electromagnetic wave that matches the resonant wave frequencies in the water molecule clusters. This causes the clusters to break down into active twin molecules with a much larger surface area and better bonding capability with the hard mineral ions. The water molecules in their new state can pick up and carry the hard mineral ions, significantly reducing the likelihood that they form scales and adhere to pipe surfaces while allowing the existing scale to begin breaking down.
Benefits
No salt added.
No maintenance is required.
No plumbing modification is required.
