Water's Good

How to get filtered water in your apartment

Posted On 05/13/2021 By iSpring Water Systems

Having access to clean water to drink and cook with is crucial for your health and well-being, but what are your options when you rent your home? You might not be able to control what type of water you have access to, but you can control what type of water you put in your body.

What if you could have premium quality water from a filter designed for small living?

Whole house systems are simply not an option. Pitcher filters are great for drinking water but impossible to use to cook whole meals with. The built-in water filter on your fridge, if you even have one, also doesn’t dispense enough water for anything but a glass of water (and even that feels like it takes ages to fill up). Many people choose to purchase bottled water or jugs of water, but still feel guilty about the ecological waste that using all of those bottles results in, or strain themselves hauling massive jugs of water around.

Despite the lengths you go to, and the significant expense, you are still consuming too much contaminated water.

The Reverse Osmosis Option

Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems have long been acknowledged as the number one filtration system for clean drinking water. An RO system removes the highest number of contaminants from your water and leaves you with cleaner, better-tasting water than any other filtration device.

While most traditional RO systems typically take up a lot of space and require a large storage tank, iSprings developed a solution for small living quarters by designing the iSpring RCT600. The RCT600 is a tankless RO system designed specifically for use in dorm rooms, RVs, apartments, and tiny homes. All you need to do is to connect the filter directly to your kitchen faucet. No drilling, no plumbing, and no extra faucet required.

The RO membrane in the RCT600 is a beast, removing up to 99% of over 1,000 contaminants, including lead, chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, asbestos, calcium, and sodium while cleaning up to 600 gallons per day. All this without the need for a boost pump. The iSpring RCT600 is a very versatile product with a standard 3-stage filtration system including a PAC composite filter, an activated carbon filter, and an RO membrane. The system can easily be customized by adding on post-filters, alkaline filters, or deionization filters. This system is a compact system designed for tiny homes that effectively removes TDS particles.

Secondary Faucet Options

While the RCT600 has one of the fastest flow rates of all RO filters, the high efficiency of an RO membrane does dispense water at a slower rate than other types of water filtration devices. RO systems are also a little pricier than other filtration systems.

If you want to save a little cash and don’t mind using a second faucet, another popular option for renters and homeowners alike is the countertop water filter dispenser. This filter has the easiest setup and requires no drilling. Simply attach the filter to your faucet and instantly enjoy clean water. iSpring offers three variations of this filter. The simplest model is the iSpring CKC1C filter. This filter Includes a standard 5-micron carbon block cartridge that removes 95% of chlorine, odors, sand, silt, sediment, and rust from your drinking water. The iSpring CKC2 is very similar to the CKC1C but includes an activated carbon block filter that removes odors, and other pollutants.

The third option is the iSpring CT10. This counter-top filter combines the best of both of these filtration systems with a multi-stage filter system that includes activated carbon, dual-layered sediment filtration, KDF media, and calcite all in a single convenient cartridge.

Unlike an RO membrane, this countertop water filtration system DOES NOT reduce Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). This filter keeps healthy minerals in your water while removing harmful chemicals. We do not recommend any of these filters if TDS is a concern.

What if I don’t want any of this stuff on my countertop?

If you are looking for something a bit more out of sight, out of mind, the iSpring US15 is a compact under sink filtration device. Similar to the CT10, the US15 is a compact, multi-layer filter cartridge with higher efficiency that combines a polypropylene layer and carbon block, which effectively reduces chlorine, smell, bad taste, heavy metals, sediment, and other large particles while keeping healthy minerals in your filtered water.

Long service life for drinking, cooking, and cleaning, the multi-layer filter can filter water down to 3-micron. This under sink water filter US15 is up to 20x more effective than the common water pitcher dispenser. iSpring under sink water filter US15 is your great choice for water treatment to meet your daily clean water needs.

Keep in mind that the iSpring US15 is not designed for hot water and you should only run cold water through it. It also does not lower the TDS levels of your water.
