Good product and much sturdier than the rukus spin down filter that is made of pure plastic and PVC. Just google spin down filter hammer knock and see how quickly you can have a bad day if this fails. As others have said the demonstration video is WRONG and they installed the filter in the wrong orientation. The narrow point of the triangle / arrow is the OUTPUT on the water flow. Even the paperwork and diagrams that come with this filter is WRONG. The words 123FILTER as read is the water flow direction. =====>A few notes and takeaways on the install.#1. Use at least 20 rounds of Teflon tape for this installation.Mine had a slow micro drip (one drip every 10 mins or so)#2 use 2 pipe wrenches when installing the connections.... one on each side to get enough torque on this#3 each home piping is different but I suggest sharkbite fittings for this (mine were 1 inch female to have the most possible flow rate )#4. Go buy yourself some 1/2 inch plastic tubing for this filter. I have mine going directly into my sup pump so I don’t need to get a bucket to drain this.#5. Plan ahead on your install of this. I suggest putting this filter BELOW your water filters so if you shut off the water to the bypass you can open this valve and drain your entire stack. I had my water come in under the filters and Put this in place before the bend up to the 3 stage filters.#6. The water filter “shakes” side to side during high flow rate which seems odd. ended up draining and checking the gasket seal and it’s fine, but it seems odd.Overall I’m happy for the price. Just plan ahead for easy flushing and over use the Teflon tape (at least 20 turns on the threads ). The biggest hurdle was how the documentation left me questioning the install and water flow. Hopefully they update their paperwork and redo their video install.See my included images for more detail.

Please also see my review of the iSpring WGB22BM system that this works with for some installation details. However, this works great at filtering out the large particles. You can easily see the sediment in the bottom of the glass bowl and opening the drain valve will flush the gunk out and be ready for another week or so, depending upon the level of contamination. UPDATE: After a month, I have a better understanding of how to best use this. Our well water has a lot of sediment and after leaving the WSP-50 strainer for a week, the water pressure was noticeably down, observed when running more than one faucet at a time. The mesh was coated with a fine reddish (iron) sludge. I removed it and carefully washed the mesh and the bowl with dish liquid and a sponge. Once clean and replaced, the water pressure was fine.I now back flush it daily and only had to disassemble and clean it once in 3 weeks or so. I consider this stage an essential component in a filtration system to help lengthen the life of the main filter elements.

The unit seems to be constructed well with good materials. I like the dual thread option; we used the 1" MNPT. It has been collecting quite a bit of sediment since we put it in service. Flushing every couple days the first week and then once a week. [edit] The unit has now been in use for about six months. My daughter and son-in-law are now living at the house where we installed this but I believe that they are not needing to flush this even once a week. Of course, frequency of flushing is a function of the water coming in and not really a function of the filter itself. The filter is catching everything above what is plausibly 50 microns. That is, there is very fine sediment collected when it was flushed. My previous concern was finding replacement screens. They are now available here on Amazon (although slightly pricey -- about 1/3rd the cost of the unit), so I am very pleased with unit. Very good materials and functionality. Note: most of the sediment flushes out nicely, but the fine particles just larger than 50 microns could clog the screen. A soft-bristle brush (e.g., soft toothbrush) can help with this somewhat, but of course can jam particles even more firmly in the filtration holes so you want to be gentle.

Installed filter as directed. After install and turning on water for 1st time the filter caught a bunch of large sediment which was easily cleaned by simply opening the valve and let drain into a bucket. once I did that and closed valve the filter was clean. Great product and easy to use. very effective and worth getting to save filter system from changing filters.

We have Well Water and the amount of lime / calcium was horrible - Hard Water Beyond Belief so we had to come up with a solution ..... We removed the old broken down softener but there was not enough room for our Aquasana System so we moved locations and installed the new $2,000 Water Purification System in the utility room ..... Confusing so far but having a second location for a Pre-Filter we installed the iSpring WSP-SL with 1,000 Micron Screen and we thought we were on the incoming side of the water but actually we installed the iSpring after the new AquaSystem and used the largest screen ..... After a week, look at the calcium it pulled out .....So seeeing that I ordered a second unit to put in front of my Aqua ..... Ordered with a 50 Micron Scrren and replaced the unit that is installed after the Aqua and will put 1,000 Micron in front of AquaSystem .....I couldn’t be happerier with this unit, the performance and ease of cleaning, although I’ve only opened up twice, it is without a doubt well built and worthwhile working piece of water filtration.

After reading reviews and doing my research, looked like the best option, with the lime scale inhibitor built in to the filter cartridge i think its a good design. I used type L copper sweat fittings on everything and works great. the threads are a little tight and i did have to exert some good force to get them to seal properly so thats my only complaint. i attached a hose to the bottom of the drain nozzle because of how close to the other pipe it was and noticed when pressure is applied to the bottom of the filter housing, the nozzle did have a little wiggle to it which worried me initially but it seems to be just fine. installed before a culligan 50 micron and 3m aqua pure. make sure your teflon wraps are taught and even.

Wow! I never imagined that as soon as I turned our water on that this would already be catching large particles.I installed these before three big blue filters to catch larger particles and extend the life of my other filters. As you can see in the video, the first time I ran water, that it’s already catching debris that would’ve been in our water! The product is also extremely well designed. The connection can take either a male or female connection!!! I used female because I bought a pack of 10 for other parts in the system. As far as instructions, I assume they’ve been updated as everything was correct for direction of water flow. So no worries there!I’d absolutely buy this if youre thinking about it! I’m already amazed at what it has filtered and I just installed it. Not to mention it’s not very expensive yet extremely solidly built!

After looking at many options for a first stage filter I ended up choosing the iSpring WSP-50SL filter. The unit has exceptional build quality and design, to include an all brass upper assembly which is fantastic, and the lower bowl, filter, and drain assemblies are of high quality. My water supply is a little hard and leaves buildup on the plumbing and fixtures, so I opted for the Siliphos filter, which will hopefully reduce the buildup issue. Overall this was a good purchase; the unit is worth its price and the customer service I have received from Nick has been great. I'll certainly continue to do business with iSpring.

Just installed it and I can already see sediment in there; at least it's working! Looks like I'll have to be flushing it out fairly often.

I installed this spin-down filter more six months ago, and it has saved me a bundle on the cost of my 5 micron whole house filters. Prior to getting this spin-down filter, I had to replace my whole house filter every month. Now that I installed this spin-down filter, my whole house filter lasted more than five months before it needed to be replaced. Now, I simply open the flush valve at the bottom of the spin-down filter once every couple of weeks, to purge all the 50 micron or larger sediment. In addition, this spin-down filter keeps all that larger sand and sediment out of my water softener, which improves it's performance and will ultimately extend it's service life.Great product. I highly recommend purchasing this spin-down filter, especially if your water supply comes from a well. It has saved me more than the cost of purchase and installation in less than six months, making it a truly worthwhile investment.
