I’m amazed! We moved into a house in a well with very hard water. There was limescale and calcium in every fixture and stuck to granite countertops that had to be chiseled off. Water tasted very much like iron making it completely unpalatable. Our brewed coffee even tasted bad. My hair was dry, frizzy and dull. We got an estimate for a water treatment system including a filter and salt softener for $3500. I started looking into alternatives. I became interested in the descalers for the softening effects on my dishes, laundry, skin and hair, but also for the possibility of reducing the damaging effects of for the last 4 decades of hard untreated water in the old house pipes.Hubby installed it 2 days ago near the well with the box recommended by another reviewer for outdoor install. We Immediately noticed change in the smell and taste. I showered and washed my hair and noticed the soap lathers better. Most impressively, my hair is smooth, soft and shiny!I’m very happy with this product and is low price point.

Was not able to install a salt based system due to space and drain plumbing issues so looked at this as an alternative. The water hardness test have not changed but shampoo lathers more and the glass shower door does not show as much soap scum as before installing the iSpring conditioner. Give it 5 stars because it does what the description said.

I purposely waited a few months before reviewing this item as I wanted to be sure it's doing what it says; and frankly that's not an easy question to answer. Install is fairly straight forward. Just follow the instructions and wrap the wires in the direction of water flow as described. Plug it in and then....what? Unless you can get inside your boiler there's no way of knowing for sure the deposits are being released into the water stream. You would have to wait 5-10 or more years to see if you get more life out of your water tank. Here in CO we have hard water w/ lots of minerals; my last water heater lasted about 7 years so I still have several years to go to see if this product extends the life of the new boiler.Barring testing water prior to installation and after (which I did not do), how can one tell if this thing is working? First, the science is there. I researched quite a bit before purchasing and multiple sources indicate this product does descale minerals from pipes and water tank. Second, it's hard to be sure but when standing in the shower it does seem the water feels a bit softer on skin. Rubbing fingers together under a flow of water seems slicker and smoother than prior to installation. The problem is this could be a psychological effect of "wanting it to work"...hard to be certain. Finally, and most notably for me is how my skin has reacted over time. CO winter air is beyond dry. The years I've lived here I need humidifiers constantly running, bottles of lotion used and still would be itchy most of the day. This winter however there is a noticeable improvement. My skin is not nearly as dry, I am not using lotion like I was and I do not itch anymore. For me this is the true indicator that the product is working. I'm not going to call it 'soft water', but it has the same effect as soft water which is all that matters to me. For the price this was a good solution and totally worth it.

Installed just before out cold and to tankless water heater on 3/4 CPVC. Extremely hard water. Calcium previously coated heater elements quickly and hard solid. Checking elements after two weeks I see lots of calcium buildup but it seems softer, easier to scrape off. At first evaluation, device makes very little impact. Somewhere I read that device does better over time (although that does not make sense to me). I'll continue to monitor and will update this post if needed.

We installed our unit a month ago and have been pleasantly surprised at its effectiveness. I was a skeptic since I have been involved in water treatment for scotch marine boiler operations most of my life and thought a regular water softener was the only solution. I'm sure your results will vary, but it is working well on our well water. It is working well to keep our dishwasher and dishes from getting that mineral haze on everything. We don't have to use the expensive detergents any longer.Iron discoloration in the toilet bowls has been reduced considerably also.

Where I live in So. CA we have really hard water. Per our water report the city water comes in at about 500 TDS. This, of course, leaves white calcium build up all over the shower, appliances, water faucets, etc. A tried & true solution is a salt-based water softener, however, they are expensive, and our local government has banned them. Therefore, the only solution is a salt-less system.I looked up a number of high end salt-less systems, but they are $1000+ and seem to have very mixed reviews. As such, I figured at just over $100 the ISpring system seemed like a worthwhile alternative to try out, especially considering their satisfaction guarantee. As such, I went ahead & purchased one & installed it about 6 months ago. Installation was very easy, just wrap the wires around the incoming water pipe tightly & plug it in. I also cleaned all the calcium on my faucets & showerheads.Immediately I felt as if the water was a bit softer & the soap a little slicker when showering. This isn't a huge difference, like a salt system would create, but it does seem that there is a small perceivable difference. With 6-months under my belt, I can also say that all of my faucet taps & showerheads remain unclogged. It's hard to say for sure, but I believe before I had this system the small jets on the showerhead would have clogged up well before 6-months after a thorough cleaning.Realizing the system doesn't take any hardness out of the water, but rather, keeps the hardness from adhering to appliances & surfaces is key. If you don't come into this expecting the results that a salt-system would create, then you'll likely notice the results. In my experience the results aren't enormous, but they do exist & I feel they are worth the relatively small cost of the system.

We have really noticed a difference in our water since we installed the descaler. Our soap products suds better and have noticed less scale around the fixtures. We have had it for about 2 months now. I was Leary about it working but it has done everything that we were told it would by a friend.

I have had this item installed for several weeks now and see a lot less of the calcium build up in my toilets and shower. I know it’s also helping with my hot water heater. A good investment without a huge price. I recommend this product and want to say that Nick from iSpring was great with any questions I had.

I have two of these, one on the main water inlet to my home. Installation caveat; I did have to get into the wall to get at the pipes. That was a mess and a hassle! But it was in the utility room, under the laundry sink, so at least I didn't have to do a cosmetic job of wallboard repair. This first unit helped reduce hard water spots in my sink etc but it does nothing for the hot water since after 3 days or so the effect wears off. I have a 40 gallon water heater and living alone (except for my dog) there's no way I can go though 40 gallons of hot water! Eventually after some re-plumbing that was necessary to install a new water heater, I got a 2nd unit to put on the exit pipe from the water heater. Its been a couple months and the wires seem to be ok despite the heat of that exit pipe. That 2nd unit has helped a t lot in reducing the hard water scale I see in my sink but it hasn't eliminated it either. But then, when I had a water softener, that didn't eliminate hard water issues either![I used to buy room-humidifiers in the Fall and throw them away in the Spring because of hard mineral build up on the heating element of those humidifiers (who really cleans those things with vinegar every week?) ... so much for water softeners removing all these minerals...]So end result: I consider this a better option than a water softener. Two units are about 1/2 the price of a water softener, and I don't have the cost and hassle of the water softener salt, I have a little more room in my small utility room, and as far as addressing the problems associated with hard water rotting appliances and spotting on the sink and faucet etc., its at least as beneficial as the water softener I used to have.So its worth it...

Let me first say that I prepared for this purchase by researching the recommendations the manufacturer had mad before buying it. I knew I needed water within a certain hardness range,
