I purchased this as a pre filter for a whole house filtration system from Express Water so that I can extend the life of my system, install was very easy but the first time around I used your typical Teflon tape and it leaked once the system was pressurized so I did some research and found Blue Monster pipe thread sealant tape that I picked up from my local hardware store, immediately it felt better and I removed the filter from the system and reapplied and no more leak! Very happy with this filter the build quality is top notch!

This is a must have if you are on well water, or a municipal system with any sediment issues! My install is with a iSpring WGB32B-PB 3-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System. As a prefilter, it allows easy drain of the installation when changing the main filters, avoiding water most water spill and limited draining. Install with a shut off valve ahead and behind it if stand alone or before and after complete filter system and you minimize draining and nearly all of the need to bleed air from your water lines. The WSP is the best money I spent on our new house! It is available with 50 to ,000 micron level. If you are on well system, get at least a 100 or 200 as I did. The 50 will likelky create to much back pressure and cause the overload as I had when starting with a 50. If you are using a two or three stage whole house filter (or some under counter filtering and refrig water filter), the WSP will pay for itself in reduce filter replacements, not to mention, the easy draining of the primary filters to change the filters. I my install (with 3/4 hp well pump, using the 200 eliminated reduced the backpressure issue and provide still provided extended sediment filter life. If you have a 1/2 hp pump, you might be able to use the 100, but skip the 50 and pay the few extra bucks for the larger screen. Lastly DO put in the shut off valves to make it easy to drain and clean the filter. If a whole house system, spend the extra $10 bucks or so to provide the by-pass water shut off and you will have a much lower maintainence time when changing the filters and flushing out the air from the house water lines! Thanks iSpring!

I also did a video of the entire installation called: How to Install a Whole House Water Filter SystemWe have a well and we have a lot of rust in our water. So we needed to install multiple filters for our entire house. I installed 2 of these iSpring filters first to catch all the big particles. I installed a 100 micron then a 50 micron. After that i installed 2 of the clear Culligan filters with a 20 micron and 5 micron filter. These iSpring filters are a lot less work to clean. Just open the valve and blow off the screen. However after 6 months i did have to take out the screen and clean all the embedded rust with an old tooth brush. But overall these are super strong and heavy duty.I'm glad these are clear because i can see if they look rusty and i can open the blow-off valve.WHEN INSTALLING:Use LOTS of teflon tape. Like 12 wraps around the brass fitting.I also used a lot of other things i bought off Amazon, including 2 Culligan filters, PEX pipe, gauges, valves, etc. I'm really happy with how it all turned out. I highly recommend PEX pipe, it's way easier and quicker then soldering copper.

I had previously purchased a spin down filter for one of the big box stores. After installing it the valve at the base failed in the middle of the night. Thankfully our sump-pump was able to keep up with the flood of water. Needless to say I didn’t have confidence in the pvc unit that failed so I replaced it with this unit and so far it is functioning perfectly. Our well has a lot of sediment so this item is a must to help extend the life span of other in-line filters. Not to mention our household appliances. The construction is above average and feels very well built. I do wonder how long the scale filter will last inside the mesh and how I can get replacements. Other than this I would highly recommend.

Great value, and works very well to filter out large sediment from well water! Price was comparable to big box store sediment filters that are all plastic, so I opted for this one, which seems heavier duty. Wish I would have installed one of these things years ago!I installed this after my well water pressure tank, and before my air injection iron eater filter. After my air injection iron eater filter, I have a 20" big blue water filter (5 micron), then my water softener, then another 20" big blue water filter (25 to 1 micron), which then goes into my house.I was shocked at how much large sediment was coming into this filter, so am glad I got it. I suppose I may be extending the life of all my other filtration (which I installed only a week or so before installing this filter), since this handy little thing is catching all the big stuff. The first picture was taken while I was flushing it. The second picture shows the filter after I flushed it. The last 2 pictures show some of the large sediment that this thing has filtered (before being flushed). I typically only have to flush it every couple weeks or so (when I notice some buildup). I have had it for a couple months, and have not yet removed the filter to clean it or soal it, since flushing it out seems to be doing the trick. I have a pressure gauge installed before and after the filter, and there is no noticeable loss of pressure.Wish I would have installed one of these things long ago! As a result of having no real water filtering previously (was only using chlorine injection system to get rid of the stink from well water), I had pretty good amounts of sediment buildup in all of my water pipes. After installing all of my filtration, and before installing a brand new water heater, I flushed all of my home water lines to clear them out (pumped vinegar into all water lines with a 1/4 HP transfer pump, let it sit for 24 hours, then flushed all lines). Now, there is no junk coming out of, or building up in my water lines!

Our well water is pretty good. We do get sand in the faucets at times. The primary reason I installed was to catch sand and other particles.

I have a lot of sediment and iron in my well water in north Florida. Without filtering water you can see the sand in a glass of water. I have this filter before my carbon filter and before my water softener. Today was the first time I opened up both this filter and my carbon filter after 6 months of use. My carbon filter looked as if it had never been used. All the sediment is being trapped by this filter. I open up the valve ever week for just a second or two to wash the sand and sediment down the laundry drain. Upon opening today, the filter was still in great shape. There is the iron film all inside but I cleaned it out pretty well with 30% vinegar. The o rings are still good. Very happy to know this little guy is basically getting all the sand and sediment out of my water and preventing it from entering my water softener and tankless water heater.

Great products, great customer support! I wanted to extend the time between whole home filter changing, and discovered iSpring filters. Their self purging filter system was just what I needed. Michele in customer service took the time to listen to my needs, and advised me which system to buy. She even followed-up to make sure I was happy, which in today's world, is unheard of. Thank you Michael and iSpring!
