I installed the system myself using everything provided without the need to go to HomeDepot. As many reviewers pointed out the key to leakproof was to insert the tubing firmly and all the way in. The system has been operating very well for over one month now. There is no leak and my TDS results are around 10 mg/l. My wife and I are very happy with the system. The package arrived in a perfect condition and the instructions were clear and easy to understand. Thumbs up to iSpring and I give them a well deserved 5 stars.

I bought this ultrafiltration water filter instead of a reverse osmosis system for two reasons. First, my water has low TDS at 47. I do not reverse osmosis to reduce TDS. Ultrafiltration is second to reverse osmosis but good in preserving minerals in water. Second, I donot want to go through the hassle to drill a hole on my counter and install another faucet. I used to take drinking water from fridge water and ice dispenser. I plan to install a better water filter on top of my fridge. Reverse osmosis system requires a drain line where fridge sits does not have. This ultrafiltration does the job. As I do not have to install the faucet, the installation couldnt be easier. I just cut the clear quarter inch tubing behind the fridge (remember to shut off valve first) and insert the inlet end to the right side and outlet end to the left side of the filter, its done. To minimize potential leak risk due to high water pressure, I turn the valve on for just about one third, barely enough to supply water to it. To reduce the time in flushing for first time use, I unplug the outlet tubing and let water run through it and dump into a 5 gallon bucket. It is lightweight and compact so I just lay it flat on top of fridge and it works fine. The result is great. Now water and ice at my fridge are crystal clear and taste much better. The long term cost is lower than proprietary fridge filter. I love this 3 stage ultrafiltration water syste

I chose this one over a reverse osmosis unit as I dont have space for a tank and this seems like the next best thing, possibly better as it leaves minerals in the water. The install went well except for that the instructions were for a different faucet design. It says to drill a 1/2" hole when it requires a 1 1/8" hole. The hook up diagram shows 3 lines going from the faucet to tap water, right and left sides of filter but doesnt identify which go where. That information was easy to find on their website but they really should update the manual. I also had to buy a few adapter parts as the standard threads were different from the compressions fittings on my sink. It would fit most standard plumbing.I still give it 5 stars as the unit itself is top notch and the filter cartridges are a reasonable price.

After I read the reviews here on Amazon I decided to put my faith on the iSpring CU-A3 water filter. I have purchased the filter directly from the manufacturer 123filter.comThe iSpring CU-A3 is an excellent quality filter and produces very good quality water. What is lacking is proper documentation and the correct parts to connect to your plumbing.I had the same experience as "JIMBO",(thank you for your excellent review)my hose and shut-off valve under my sink is 3/8" compression fitting. However, I was lucky to find the proper part to use. Forget the 1/2" adapter and ball valve supplied, Go to Home Depot, Lowes or other plumbing supply store (I bought mine from HD their Part#-P467) and buy this part "Watts model#LFP467CS", This valve will allow you to connect to a 3/8" male valve and to the 3/8" female hose. The valve has a quick connect for 1/4" hose, go ahead and connect the blue hose directly to this valve and you are done in less than 10 minutes.Make sure to allow the water to run through the filter for at least 5 minutes or more, at the beginning the water it is cloudy and dirty looking but after will turn crystal clear. ENJOY!

EDIT: after making the below comments, ispring contacted me to remedy the installation problems I experienced. Raising rating from 3 starts to 4. Clearly, this company cares about service and customer feedback. Also giving them a second chance - returning this three filter unit and purchasing 6 stage RO unit.--As others have noted, install is problematic. Specifically, the supplied 1/2 inch three way fitting that screws onto the 3/8 cold water supply valve coming out your wall. Lowes and HD do not sell an adapter for the 1/2 fitting to fit a 3/8 valve supply. Most homes use 3/8 fittings. I had to buy a separate 3/8 T fitting with a 1/4 outlet for the filter blue hose, and eliminate the ball/lever 1/4 blue hose connection that came in box. Ispring needs to do a better job with this 1/2 inch fitting - either include a 3/8 adapter for most US homes, or a new T fitting like what I had to purchase separately. Water tastes good, but not as clean as bottled or commercially filtered. 2 star deduction for poorly thought out installation supplies, and taste which I hoped w/b better.
